A Place To Be

Iligan City is a well-known city not because of the hydroelectricity used to regenerate electricity but because of making it the City of Waterfalls. The city is known for the falls around us especially the Maria Cristina Falls. The falls are the main attraction sites when entering the city. Beautiful attraction, good place to stay with the family, and have some unforgettable moments exploring the falls.

Iligan City also have another place that most of people came to stay. The Timoga Pools are just along the way to relax you. Most of the family’s stays there to celebrate birthdays, reunions, anniversary, or just to bond with the family and friends. The pools are not like the other pools in the other places since the water is flowing from springs in the higher part of the place. Even though you are under the heat of the sun, just go to the pool and dive in to be cooled. The most famous pool in Iligan is the De La Mar Pool. It has many pool like the kiddie pool, lovers pool, adult pool and the most famous, the 16-feet pool.

It’s almost September and Iligan City Fiesta is fast approaching. Iligan made the month of September a whole month celebration. Occasionally, the fiesta start with different celebrations like the thing they called ‘’Pagpakanaog’’ of the saint of iligan which is St. Michael on the 20th day of September. Everyone goes to the Iligan Cathedral to watch the event.

Street dancing is also one if the attraction in Iligan City because of the graceful dancers dancing in the streets with colorful costumes and choreography of steps while moving. It’s not just for entertainment but because it is also a contest. Each contestants have their own choreography on how they will perform and making a story of St. Michael saving them from the devils. The beats of the drums makes a very nice rhythm making your body to dance. One of the attraction of this event also is the Fiesta Queen of all the contestants. It is the most beautiful ladies that you can see in the streets.

During the fiesta day, in the morning they tour the statue of St. Michael around the city along with the people having fun which they called ‘’Sinulog’’. Some will put paint in their faces or just simply coal to design their faces. Even though there are bunch of people going in, the people celebrates fiesta as peacefully just like a flow in a falls with no distractions to make an event unsuccessful.

#4 A Journey of a Lifetime

It was the first day of my high school life. I was so afraid to go to school since it is the start of another chapter in my life. I met new faces, new teachers and new friends. During the first day, I was really quiet that I was not supposed to be. I only know some of them since they were my classmates before. I manage to be with them made them my friends. They made my 1st-year life amazing and full of happiness. Months past and I passed 2nd year which really not enjoyable since my section was really not like the other sections. 3rd year life was the most amazing. We call each of us brothers and sisters, one will cry for a certain feeling and all will cry, one’s problem will be all’s problem. We don’t let a classmate be apart from us. Overnight practices made us more than a family, but  we had a problem of one of my classmate. He stop going to class and going to our practices. We went to his family to find out what his problem is. Her mother told us that he doesn’t talk also to her about the problem. We stayed long in their house waiting for our classmate and one moment, a man went to their house and told us that the one we were waiting is in a computer shop just along the streets. We went there but when our classmate saw us, he rushed to the streets. We boys in our section chased him until the moment we cornered him. He was just like really depressed when we saw his faced. He doesn’t want to let us know his problem, maybe family problem since we heard that his mom has another boy. We just let him run and went back to their house. We told our other classmates what happened. We can’t stay more since it’s to late and our parents are now looking for us. Our president decided to write a letter one by one that will be given to our classmate who run and hoping that he will go back to school again. The next day, all of us are hoping that he will be back. Luckily, were not wrong. He came even though we can still see in his face about the struggle. We didn’t let him remember about the pain maybe and just continue with our life. Just like the past, we made practices and shared secrets about our love life’s maybe or anything. Even though we all were made apart because of we are 4th year high school, it didn’t stop us for holding reunions and more. 4th year was the last stage of my 2nd chapter in my life. I tried to make it amazing but I failed since most of my classmate are KJ or shall we say ‘’Kill Joy’’. Graduation practice came. Even though we know that it begins the countdown to the end of our high school life, we don’t have the choice to stay since we still need to continue our chapter to college life. Graduation day came and most of our classmate cried for those who will never meet for too long for studying in far places. Even though some of my years are full of loneliness, full of laughs, full of problems, I still thank God for giving me chance to meet them and made my friends.

#2 Me, My Self and I

On the day of October 13, 1995, the eldest son of Noel M. Soriano and Elvira G. Soriano was born. I’m the only grandson who brings the Soriano in our family so they have decided to give me the name of my grandfather which is Policronio. But my mother insisted to cut the name in to Pol which is my name now and they just added John making it Pol John G. Soriano. I currently live in Meadowlark Street, Isabel Village, Pala-o, Iligan City. I finished my elementary in Iligan City East Central School(ICECS), my high school in Mindanao State University – Iligan Institute of Technology, Integrated Developmental School (MSU-IIT IDS) and now taking BS Electronics and Computer Engineering(BSECE) in the same said university in Iligan. When I was at elementary, I loved to dance in events but when I reach high school, I only dance when I really need to maybe for the busy things in studying like projects or research papers. I’m a shy type of person, making hard for me in having grades in oral at school. For those who don’t know me, well, I’m friendly, easy to approach, but sometimes when I’m bored, I get to find things to get laugh to with friends as my companion. I like eating spaghetti, burgers, fried chicken, buko salad, French fries, and many more delicious foods. Maybe I’ll just limit sharing here. I hope you will know me now about simple things in me. I hope also you enjoy reading and have a great day ahead.

#1 A Stop to Say Thank You to Everyone

Thank you is a simple two word phrase with a great meaning to everyone around us. But why do we forgot to say thank you to the people who helps us in simple ways. Like the guards in the mall for opening the door, the employees of a certain restaurant for serving us what we ordered, and for everyone who is like invisible to us but help us in our way always. Even how tiring there day was, hearing someone saying thank you in their way, it will help them to replenish since someone appreciated there simple work. Some of us only say the word when they are given allowance or valuables. Even in our parents, we already forgot our virtues with them. We must think first that our parents was the one who cared for us the most since we were young, guarded us from danger, and loved us to the fullest. But why do we also forgot to say simple thank you to them? Our parents continue to support us but deep inside, they have a little feeling of you abusing them. Saying thank you to teachers for teaching us, friends for helping us in our difficult times, and in our parents for growing us well, are the greatest values which we must not forgot. For the ones who already forgot to say thank you must practice to say this in simple ways in order to have this values again. And above all, when your reading this blog, THANK YOU.
